With the federal government shutdown lifted, E-Verify has resumed. Please note that due to the shutdown, E-Verify expects a significant amount of activity. Please expect to see delays in processing both initial submissions and subsequent case status updates. As mentioned in prior notices, Guardian automatically queues I-9 information for initial submission for new hires. Submissions queued during the government shutdown will process first based on E-Verify’ s site volume. Users should expect to see continued delays with NEW I-9 creation and submission until the backup has been cleared. Depending on E-Verify volume this may be one or more days.
Beginning Wednesday October 2, 2013 through the next few weeks, employee Classes 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9 that have employment records with a job end date of August 31, 2013 or prior and which no check or direct deposit has been issued since September 13, 2013 will be automatically terminated in the system. Only those records that do not have a current active appointment will be affected. Current active records that are generating pay to employees will not be terminated.
With the onset of the temporary government shutdown, the E-Verify site has ceased accepting information. As a result, all interaction with E-Verify has been suspended. During this time users may receive the following message when attempting to interact with E-Verify: E-Verify is not setup. Please note that this message is temporary and does not indicate an issue with your E-Verify account. Guardian will queue all requests (e.g. initial submissions and follow up inquiries) and will proceed with the submission of data once E-Verify resumes transactions.
Regardless of the status of E-Verify, form I-9 should continue to be completed for the duration of any government shutdown and must be completed no later than the third business day after an employee starts work for pay.
