Pursuant to Department of Labor and Workforce Development Legislation N.J.S.A. 34:11-56a that passed in November 2013, NJ minimum wage increased to $8.25 effective January 1, 2014.
Reminder: Beginning January 1, 2014 all student and temporary hourly employees need to be hired at the mandated minimum wage of $8.25 per hour or above.
Beginning Friday, January 31, 2014 through the next few weeks, employee classes 6, 7, and 8 that have employment records with a job end date of December 31, 2012 or prior and which no check or direct deposit has been issued since January 04, 2013 will be automatically terminated in the system. Employees with a class 9 appointment that has expired prior to December 31, 2013, will also be terminated. Only those records that do not have a current active appointment will be affected. Current active records that are generating pay to employees will not be terminated.
